The Swimming Swan

This study was an experiment in attempting to capture the properties of the surface of the water using minimal brushstrokes without getting lost in details.

I painted both the swan and the water around it using the same brush, meaning that the brushstrokes were all the same size so the piece wouldn’t seem as if either part were less detailed than the other.

Overall, I think that this piece was a success and that the water and the swan both work together in the same space.
