In Bad Company

This piece was inspired by a trip to an aquarium, where I saw some piranhas that I was inspired to paint.

I didn’t want this piece to only be a study from my photos, so I decided to add a bit of a backstory to the piece by including a half-portrait of my friend, which was a challenge since I was unable to take a picture of him underwater directly.

One of the more interesting elements of this piece are the yellow and blue border lines around each object, which were inspired by the refraction which is introduced by aquarium glass that was present in all of my piranha reference photos.
