A church tower in Greece
This study was an attempt to practice drawing the focus of the viewer using specific colour choices.
The background was painted using mostly flat colours or smooth transitions so that they didn’t draw the attention of the viewer, and the tower was painted primarily orange which was intended to contrast heavily with the mostly blue background.
To draw the eye of the viewer up the tower, to the cross on the roof, the tower was painted with a gradient, where colours near the bottom of the tower were redder and the colours became more orange with height.
Overall, I think that these experiments were a success!
